I'm not that choosy when it comes to my reading material, non-fiction, fiction, biographies or even custom essay . I read them all as long as they all have some of my interests. Online games are more fun than a serious family life, at least for me.I'm completely obsessed with starcraft and other online games. click to read more

I lived in Hawaii from 1977 to 1986 and grew up on a steady diet of Sentai heroes,Ultraman, Godzilla, Battle of the Planets, Speed Racer, all THREE seasons of Starblazers, Voltron and Robotech all in first run airings. Giant robots and the Japanese toy and anime sensibility where infused in me at a young age, long before you kids knew what Akira was, and I used to walk uphill to school, both ways, in the tropical heat with no shoes.

But of course I had my share of domestic influences as well. G.I.Joe, M.A.S.K., Star Wars, Flash Gordon, Tron, The Black Hole, Transformers, and of course every major and a lot of minor sci-fi, fantasy, action-adventure to come out in the 80’s as well as late night sci-fi marathons of classic films with my Dad like Invaders From Mars and Forbidden Planet to name a few.

I like robots. A lot. I started actively collecting in 1998, but I always had lots of toys as a kid. I had Shogun Warriors and Star Wars toys mostly. I was heavily influenced by shows like Force 5, Robotech, Voltron, Captain Harlock, Starblazers, Speed Racer and Battle of the Planets. Today, I run CollectionDX!

My name is Josh, and I'm a Technical Communication major at SPSU in GA. I absolutely LOVE toys. The only thing I love more than toys is bigger toys. I'm a fan of all sorts of things, including robots, giant robots, super robots, giant transforming super robots, androids, mechs, transforming mechs, men in spandex suits, men in rubber suits, men in rubber or spandex suits fighting other men in rubber or spandex suits, and My Little Pony.

I collect all sorts of wonderful trinkets, but I'm most fond of my Transformers and Kamen Rider toys. I love S.H. Figuarts (Please don't cheap out on us, Bandai), Figmas, and all sorts of action figure lines. I've recently discovered the wonders of S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii toys. Forgive me if I'm rambling.

TL;DR

I love toys.

My primary interests in collecting include Macross, Gundam, and other robot shows. Some of my earliest exposure to robots was through Transformers: The Movie and Macross: Clash of the Bionoids

An avid fan of science fiction in general, anime in particular and giant robots more than anything, I dabble in collecting and Gundam model building when not at work or in college.

While I'm always open for a rousing exchange of ideas and respect that different fans love different things, I won't stand for any slander against GaoGaiGar. There, I said it. ^_^

I grew up on Japanese mecha & anime because my father had several Japanese magazines and unmade models in a closet. LEGOs certainly contributed to that in a big way too!

I was too young to know about "Transformers" until around when "Beast Wars" aired in '96. I very-much enjoyed the [first] live-action film that was released in 2007... though the sequel in 2009 was questionable at best. I also enjoyed the American-made "Transformers: Animated" (2008).

After "Power Rangers" began in '93, I was instantly hooked on them. Then in 2002, I got wise and realized what a rip-off "PR" was, and so I became a Sentai-snob and switched to the original Super Sentai saga instead.

I've also become interested in the Kamen Rider saga since I finished TV-Nihon's subbed third-generation/35th Anniversary "Kamen Rider Kabuto" (TheBee Zecter was my favorite!), and I thoroughly enjoyed the lighter-toned "...Den-O" (2007). I've also caught up on on "...Blade" (2004) (which is probably as far back as I'll go). And I liked watching the Americanized-remake "Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight", which actually is doing pretty well IMO for the transition over from the original series, 2002's "Kamen Rider Ryuki".

To this day, "Neon Genesis Evangelion" remains one of my all-time favorite anime series (where do you think I got my username from?), but I haven't seen a stitch of any "Gundam" ever!

Of course, the diagnosis of high-functioning autism- specifically Asperger's Syndrome- in 2002 finally explained my strong compulsion for such things throughout my life and even into today...!

I've always been a big fan of robots, which is part of the reason I'm drawn here (even if the site does cover a vast aray of toys). I was always drawn to anything that I could use as a robot, or any character that had a cool face-obscuring mask, just so I didn't have to look at the plain human face of the figure. After that, if they had a sword, I was set! My interests are simple: robots, skeletons, and ninjas always take precedence, and then the accessories are considered afterward (though, as I said, swords are always a major factor!)

So those have been my interests over the years, and they haven't changed much, even from when I was little. I haven't really been "collecting" toys all this time, because when you're a kid, you don't consider it that way. Granted, I don't play as much as I used to when I was little, but I'm far from setting them on a shelf and just looking in awe at the beauty of how much I've managed to accumulate. I buy toys 'cause I love 'em just as much as I did when I was young. Eventually I want to have the same fun I did back then with kids of my own, and then I can pass all my junk onward. They'll get old and break and get thrown away, but such is the life of a toy.

I'm the typical Generation Y video gamer/anime fan/model kits builder getting to his mid 20's with life ahead of me.

To sum up, im a 90's kid, Doug Funnie was cool, I wanted to go to a Salute your Shorts camp and Artie was my hero. The only anime I was exposed to at the time was Sailor Moon, but got bored and got into Batman:TAS and Superman:TAS. So when 1998 rolled around, I was in middle school being of the first generation of Pokemon nerds at that time, and my anime gene kicked in (along with puberty) when it came to Dragonball Z on Toonami, added with a dose of Reboot and Sailor Moon. But in high school is when when I met a good friend of mine (still friends to this day) back my freshman year in 2001 and the same time as the "Gundam boom" in the states, that was when I was introduced to model kits. My first one being the HGUC Gundam Ez-8 at Toys R Us (well, that wasn't my first model, but it was the one that got me into modeling. My first one was a Camero SS but i threw that thing way, then I got a Wing Gundam a year later, but that didn't last long) and ive been into modeling and anime ever since. So... that sums me up in a nut shell.
